Care Homes
Bowtell Music is passionate about bringing music to all people and has spent many years doing various forms of musical outreach. We often perform in care homes, interacting with the residents and encouraging them to join in with songs that are being played. This is rewarding work, as we often find that even those who may struggle to verbally communicate are able to communicate in another form whilst listening to music.
We facilitate workshops and concerts in residential settings, either as a series or one off visits. These have the option of being interactive and involve residents playing along with small percussion instruments that we bring with us.

Some examples of projects that we have run in partnership with the Royal Northern College of Music can be found below.

Covid-19
During the covid-19 pandemic, Bowtell Music created the 'Musical Care Box'. These were letter-sized boxes sent to care homes and individuals nominated by their friends and families - often vulnerable people who were feeling isolated and alone during this time. These boxes were sent through the post and contained a DVD concert. Many professional musicians sent in home-recordings of themselves playing and singing which were in turn edited together to create a full-length concert for the recipients to enjoy. As well as a DVD, these boxes contained biscuits, tea, a personalised note and chocolates to try and boost their mood and remind them that people were thinking about them.
